I was recently having a “political discussion” and the person was trying to tell me that endorsements don’t mean anything.  I had to educate this person on how most voters seem to think, and how the party divvies out their resources during elections. Read more..

Endorsements mean a lot… In this case, The Ohio Republican Party (ORP) endorsed DeWine. That means that the ORP is going to spend their resources advertising and campaigning for DeWine. At no cost to DeWine.

With the Endorsement also comes access to ORP resources, 1st class mailing using the ORP bulk mail permit are 1/2 the cost that the non-endorsed candidates will pay, Phone banks. The ORP is running phone banks for the endorsed candidates, but the non-endorsed candidates need to organize and operate their own.

For a significant number of voters, their candidate research ends when they receive the card in the mail from the OPR telling them who the “endorsed” candidates are..

ENDORSEMENT NAME RECOGNITION – On the other side of this equation, Every conservative voter knows Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee. When those three people endorse a candidate, for many conservative voters, that’s all they need to see and their research ends.

One of the BYLAW changes that we will be pushing for is that ALL Republican Candidates should have equal access to ALL Republican resources. i.e. The OPR cannot spend our money on any one candidate over any other.. if they are going to pay the bill for expensive mailers for one candidate, then they must do the same for all candidates in the race.

If they are going to make the bulk permi9t available to one candidate, then they must make it available to ALL candidates..

Until the ORP make theses changes, We discourage donors from making any donations to the ORP. Instead, send your money directly to the candidate that you support..
